What is cataract post op care?
After the surgery you will be seated in a recovery area where you will rest for about 30 minutes, or longer if you remain groggy from the anesthesia. You will have to have someone to drive you home. While some patients experience clear vision within hours of the cataract surgery, your vision may be blurry cataract post op as your eye adjusts to the new lens.
A common annoyance cataract post op is itchy eyes, or a dry eye feeling. It is important to resist the urge to rub your eyes since rubbing can push the new lens out of place. If you suffered from dry eye before the surgery, the condition could be more pronounced immediately after the cataract.
During, cataract post op avoid bending over since this puts extra pressure on your eye. Do not drive the day after your surgery. Strenuous exercise or heavy lifting for the first few weeks after surgery should be avoided as well. Keep away from dust, swimming etc. in order to avoid getting irritants in your eye.
